It's time to say what EU leaders are too compromised to admit: Europe's future is Eurasian, not Atlantic.
The United States has spent decades proving it is not an ally. It is a customer relationship.
When it's convenient, you're a partner. When it's not, you're a market to be undercut, a base to be used, and a voice to be ignored. Trump made it embarrassingly obvious, but the pattern was always there. Europe was never at the table. Europe was always on the menu.
And now? Israel, a state the EU funds, protects, and refuses to criticise has its hand directly on the throat of Middle Eastern energy routes. The same energy Europe desperately needs. The pressure at the Strait of Hormuz is not accidental. It is a deliberate reminder of who controls Europe's lifeline. This is not a coincidence. This is leverage, and Brussels is too captured to even name it.
This is why the overland route changes everything. A direct trade corridor from Beijing to Brussels, running through Russia's single territorial entity needs no navy, no strait, no Anglo-American permission.
The US has spent decades building dominance over the world's sea lanes precisely so that nothing moves without their approval. The British, faithful to that same project, have done everything to keep Europe strategically weak and dependent. A land route through Russia answers to none of that.
Europe's technology and capital. Russia's energy and raw materials. China's manufacturing scale and infrastructure reach. This triangle would be the largest, most self-sufficient economic bloc in human history. And if this axis said enough, if Eurasia spoke with one voice and said no more wars, no more proxy conflicts, no more manufactured chaos, the leverage disappears overnight. The business model of permanent conflict collapses.
Meanwhile, Russia sits on Europe's doorstep with resources, land, and a civilisational history inseparable from Europe's own. The war in Ukraine is a tragedy, but prolonging it indefinitely while blocking every diplomatic off-ramp isn't principle. It's Washington's strategy being executed with European blood and European money.
The founders of this union built it on the ashes of fascism, on the promise of "never again." They dreamed of a continent that leads not one that follows.
De Gaulle saw it.
Chirac saw it.
Even Macron named it before he lost his nerve.
Europe from Lisbon to Vladivostok to Beijing is not a fantasy. It is the only path that gives Europe back what it hasn't truly had since before the Second World War: real sovereignty. Not managed autonomy. Not permitted independence. Actual, uncompromised sovereignty over its own future.
The question isn't whether this is possible. The question is whether anyone in Brussels still has the spine to choose Europe's interest over their masters'.
