So important for our students + anyone to feel safe in acknowledging their feelings/emotions. Daily check-ins have a huge impact on health and wellbeing, fostering healthy habits and emotional regulation. This can be done through a digital platform, incorporating ICT. #educ4750
Maddy Pietras@MaddyPietras

Daily ‘check ins’ are a great way to build emotional awareness & self-regulation strategies. They can provide common language and a compassionate framework to support positive mental health. #educ4750 #SDG3 #UoNTeach How do you check on the emotional wellbeing of your students?

@MaddyPietras This is such a great space, and so important! I love the idea that the students work collaboratively to have input and come up with their own idea of 'calm' when selecting what will be in their shared space. #normalisingfeelings

Getting your students involved in creating a Calm Corner in your classroom is a great example of #PBL. Teach students about emotional regulation, the benefits of meditation and mindfulness etc. which they can use to design the perfect ‘calm’ space. #UoNTeach #SDG3 #educ4750
Bernadette Higgins@bhberhig

What a wonderful Calm Corner our Yr 1 teacher has created. Headphones, calming down strategies and meditation ideas. #wellness #christianmeditation #mindfulness @StPats_Freo

3 children in every classroom across NSW & ACT are going to school without breakfast. Implementing 'Breakfast Club' at your school can support the health & wellbeing of students & provide authentic learning opportunities for nutrition education, life skills etc. #SDG3 #educ4750

Figures retrieved from a good read 'Strategies for Classroom Physical Activity in Schools'. We need to prioritise the PDHPE curriculum and physical activity within schools to increase these numbers further! #educ4750 #SDG3

Have you heard of #harmonyWeek? If not, take 5 minutes to have a quick read and think about ways we can include this into our teaching practice! Super important and a great way to encourage inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging in our children! #UoNTeach #educ4750 #SDG3
Beyond Blue@beyondblue

#HarmonyWeek is all about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Learn about the mental health benefits of being connected and living in an inclusive community, and how you can get involved with Harmony Week: bb.org.au/36eZfzl.

This book stood out to me. Covering a whole range of bases throughout. Demonstrating equity and acceptance. Wellbeing/mental health can unfortunately be impacted from the views of others. Lets embrace each other as future teachers and pass this on to our students. #educ4750 #sdg3

Some beautiful books I have personally had the chance to read over the years. These resources can be easily added into the classroom, promoting wellbeing and health in accordance with personal experience and background knowledge for students! #educ4750 #sdg3

Sourced from Lakeland Catholic School Division- Mental Health Matters Campaign. Mental health awareness and support methods should be taught and spoken about from Primary School throughout all aspects of life. This is great to see. #educ4750 #SDG3

Seriously amazing, heart warming stuff. Not only are community centers like this offering meals to students who may not have access, they are now offering and promoting life skills to eliminate this from being a struggle of theirs in the future. #educ4750 #feelgood #health
Metro Parks@MetroParksNash

"For two years community centers across the city have offered free meals to children in after-school programs. Now at nine community centers, meal prep classes will be offered too." newschannel5.com/news/metro-par…

One that all may not agree on. Kids are susceptible to creating lifetime habits in their years at school. I respect the choice of this school on leaving school as a water only environment! This small change in school hours could lead to big change in students future. #educ4750
Dr Sandro Demaio@SandroDemaio

How good is this! #Shepparton’s St George’s Road Primary School is starting the school year as a ‘water only school,’ ensuring students build long-term healthy habits. They agree that sugary drinks don’t belong in schools. Well done Shepp! #rethinksugarydrinks #healthyoptions

Love this, thanks Josh! Teaching health and wellbeing to students may leave them overwhelmed with how many aspects of health there is, as teachers this is a great and reassuring resource surrounding health/how to approach it! Small steps to healthy habits! #educ4750 #UoNTeach
Joshua Pidutti@JoshuaPidutti

Here is another great video resource explaining the importance of healthy habits such as DIET, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, MENTAL & SOCIAL etc. It's important we get the message across early, for healthy habits!! #UoNTeach #educ4750 #SDG3 youtube.com/watch?v=dhpCdq…

@JoshuaPidutti Love this, it covered all bases! We need to teach healthy as being a multi-layered aspect of life. But not an intimidating one! :)

'School Fun Run'. This is an awesome fundraising organisation that schools can work through to raise money for a range of areas, while having their students participate in an engaging and meaningful experience accompanied through exercise! More of this! #UoNTeach #educ4750

Why have fruit break/crunch and sip? Through practices such as fruit break our students maintain daily habits, foster healthy routines & give opportunity for healthy eating throughout their day. The daily recommended intake is 2 fruit and 5 vegetables. #educ4750 #SDG3

Practicing wellness doesn't mean having a lesson on being physically, mentally and socially healthy. Through discrete integrations in the classroom students gather understanding on ways to create healthy habits and routine. #educ4750 #SDG3 #UoNteach

Another fabulous way to keep students active in cross-curricula activities. #sdg3 As we are all familiar with through UoN, the Yulunga Traditional Indigenous Games allow teachers to touch on Indigenous perspectives and traditional language. #educ4750 #UoNteach

If you’re looking for ways celebrate #NAIDOC2020 this weekend, have a go at one of the Yulunga Traditional Indigenous Games! Suitable for all ages, there are dozens of great games to play and learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage. sportaus.gov.au/yulunga
