@duqaraels I've kept this secret for so long... When the guards changed shifts, my mentor's cloth got caught on the horn of a Caprinae, causing him to trip and fall. I didn't laugh. Really. Well... Until I told Amiya about it. She'd find out eventually, after all. 🤣

You won’t believe this, but in Japan,
every January 1st, adults give cash to children.
It’s called otoshidama.
Not a gift card. Not a check. Cash.
Crisp, brand-new bills.
Used or wrinkled bills are considered lazy.
You can’t just hand it over.
You need a tiny decorated envelope called a pochi-bukuro.
Handing cash without the envelope is rude. Even to a 5-year-old.
You write the child’s name on the front.
Your name on the back.
Both, in nice handwriting.
The amount depends on the child’s age and your relationship.
Mess it up and the parents will judge you.
Rough rule:
∙Preschool: ¥1,000
∙Elementary: ¥1,000–5,000
∙Middle school: ¥5,000
∙High school: ¥5,000–10,000
Give too little, you’re cheap.
Give too much, you’ve embarrassed the other parents.
But ¥4,000 is forbidden.
“4” sounds like the word for “death.”
¥9,000 too.
“9” sounds like “suffering.”
By elementary school, kids can walk away from New Year’s with ¥20,000–30,000 in cash.
At age 8.
Then their parents take it and “save it for them.”
It is never seen again.
Imagine if every January, your nephew handed you a decorated envelope with $200 cash, bowed, and your sister confiscated it before dinner.
We’ve been doing this since the 1950s.

Which one are you going for?
English

@BurnerLava30674 @mafurfurina which one Alexandrina "Vina" Victoria or Djerwnapekhaper Saciut Hatshepsut?
Eesti

@mafurfurina Gotta be lugalszargus probably, despite being quite arrogant his story and achievements are quite insane (also bias since I'm Egyptian so love sargon), though I do wonder how the modern shahnshah is.
