@Cheese_Rook @jk100687 the Austro-Hungarian infantryman, is probably because of the combination of light blue collar strip, with yellow buttons and white rank star from one of the 'German' regiments of the Imperial and Royal Army, Infantry Regiment No.40 'Ritter von Pino'.

Austro-Hungarian soldiers with a 15cm Luftminenwerfer (Pneumatic trench mortar) M.15 M. E. (Maschinenfabrik Esslingen). 109 of these German produced mortars were delivered to the Austro-Hungarian Army between 1915-16.

@PikeGrey1418 the alternating pale, dark, then pale strips (gold or yellow, with black between?) on the cuffs of his uniform, look like the insignia for a One Year Volunteer (Einjaehrig Freiwilliger).

Famous Austrian novelist, Stefan Zweig (1881-1942), as a Feldwebelin in the War Archive. Zweig volunteered for military service in 1914 but was classed as medically unfit for frontline service.
