In January 1994, Jackson settles the civil case for about $23 million. His legal team maintains that the decision is strategic—arguing that a prolonged civil trial, running parallel to a criminal investigation, would be damaging regardless of outcome.

As the world begins to understand just how ruthlessly mainstream media can operate, perhaps it’s time to revisit the case of the King of Pop: August 23, 1993. Michael Jackson is on tour in Bangkok—35 years old and arguably the biggest entertainer in the world.

@thevanillagoth @LivioAdelson Because they keep using the 1993 "settlement" with the Chandler accusation as proof. Which they clearly know zero about other than a social media education.

@keylime_5 @Daniell93920974 @Osirisassad Yeah, most people dont realize that and assume he just had much to hide and just payed out, but he didnt have the option because his insurance company made the choice for him. Not saying he was innocent, but the settlement doesnt exactly prove guilt.

@tjerubbaal @Panagiotou90St That only happened once and it was against Michael Jacksons wishes. And that was his insurance company paid out the Chandler family without his approval out of fear if he fought it and lost they would end up paying out 10x more.

@Panagiotou90St Same reason Michael Jackson offered money to his accusers; to make it go away as the mere existence of accusations would've derailed a billion dollar record deal.

@keylime_5 @Daniell93920974 @Osirisassad He didnt settle, the insurance company settled on his behalf despite him wanting to fight it. Which the State of California allows if the insurance company can settle for less pre trial than it could potentially cost if he lost the trial.

@Daniell93920974 @Osirisassad He was advised to settle to protect his interests and image. Something that wouldn't have been a problem if he had nothing to worry about being revealed. His image was tarnished all the same. There is still a very small minority of who believe (or want to) that he was innocent.

@Tropsjim @ClayTravis I mean JP Morgan offered it, Michael Jackson was willing to fight it in court but his Advisors convinced the insurance company behind his back to settle so MJ didnt lose them Billions by dropping out of his music tour. And California law allowed it to happen without consent.

@Tropsjim @ClayTravis Problem with that is Michael Jackson DIDN'T settle, his insurance company did on his behalf and without his consent which under California law they are allowed to do if theres a possibility losing at trial could cost them more.

@idkuser6450 @JWikson741fclz @trusfratedmax @Auntyadaa I mean, It's a matter of Public record, and in California the Insurer can settle a claim without the consent of the insured if doing so will cost them less money. Idk where they are getting all the other cases because only 2 are on record 1993 and 2005.

@JWikson741fclz @idkuser6450 @trusfratedmax @Auntyadaa The Chandler case was during the 93 Dangerous tour, a trial would have pulled him from the tour at a loss of Billions of Dollars, hence his Advisors pushed the insurance company to settle which they did in 1994 despite MJ wanting to fight it in court.

@idkuser6450 @trusfratedmax @Auntyadaa You’re literally talking about one accuser going to trial. He was found not guilty in one single instance but never had to go to trial to face the numerous others bc he died, and bc he paid people off millions so it wouldn’t go to trial.

@ThomasSowell That's a bit complicated, granted the Iranian people actually asked for our help unlike probably 90% of the times we arm people against a government they despise. But Im little skeptical on this given the history of us doing it only for them to achive their goal and turn on us.

I hate to break it to people my age, but in 30 years your adult kids are going to look at your Funko Pops, Labubus, action figures, and Warhammer 40K collections the same way we look at boomer ceramic angel collections. That shit is going straight to the thrift store when you die.
