I’m going to say this once and not complain anymore about it because I am a person who knows how to adapt. I don’t like recording video content. It’s not a medium I enjoy. When I do it, I do it because it performs well on other platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Now I’ll do it for X too. X has always been my favorite because it was a text-based platform. It was a place that no matter what you looked like, if you had a thought, you could post it. If you had just woken up in the morning but had a great idea, you could just post it. No frills. No matter the time. No matter if you were “prepared” for the day yet. With X moving towards video, that’s not the case. And, honestly, it’s not what X was always for. Now everything has to be within your “niche” or it gets shadowbanned because the new algorithm doesn’t know what to do with it. So it gets buried. Back in the day, you could connect with your followers. You could post pictures of your pets. You could post beautiful travel pictures. You could just connect. The algorithm gave your followers what you posted. It was intuitive enough to realize people hit “follow” for a reason. This was the ultimate place to connect and discuss things. The other platforms were the “dressed up” video platforms. This isn’t a knock on the monetization program. I’ve done fine under that in every iteration and it’s never been my main source of income so I don’t have any gripes about it. I’d post here for free. My problem is my timeline sucks. My followers don’t see my posts and I can’t connect with them in the same way because of the algorithm. X was not meant for this. The long-time users, like me, now have to totally change our style to accommodate the algorithm and that isn’t nice. I like to connect. I like to relate. I like to meet people. I’ve met so many friends from this app and made so many business connections. That’s not really happening anymore because the new format doesn’t lend itself to that. X was magic because it was a place to know the person deeply. Now it’s losing that. I actually like @NikitaBier’s honesty and his commitment to his vision for this place. I just feel the magic is being lost. We have all the other platforms for the other stuff. X was different. That was the beauty. I think defaulting to the “Following” feed with the “Popular” section selected, rather than “For You” would go a long way to having “connections” again. I am on this app 5-6 hours per day and didn’t even know until yesterday that was an option. Put that FIRST. It would help those who have invested years building followings retain their audience and help the people who don’t really create content but just are here to keep up with the people they follow actually see the content they want to see. If they want to go to “For You”, let it be. But let it be the second option rather than the default. I’m not complaining because I don’t know how to build a following. I have 338,000 on Facebook. I have 560,000 on Instagram. I have nearly 300,000 on TikTok and refuse to even use it because I hate it so much. The magic of X was always what I mentioned above. We’re losing it. For the love of God, this is the best platform that ever existed, keep what made it great. MAKE X GREAT AGAIN!

It was a beautiful thing to see how even outside of the center of San Salvador, they’re cleaning up the country. Many online try to make light of @NayibBukele’s accomplishments by saying it is only the central areas. This is about an hour from the main square of the city and it is now safe and being slowly transformed. A new school was recently built. When you’re starting from a place of “I can’t leave my house” you don’t need skyscrapers and McDonald’s to say an area is evolving. You need safety, security and community. And they now have that!

One of the coolest things about the Legislative Assembly in El Salvador is that the deputies literally have a “vice deputy” that they run with when they get elected who can vote for them if they are absent or somehow unable to vote. It’s as if every Congressman in America had a successor already appointed. So if someone dies in office, gets sick or otherwise can’t show up to vote they have someone there to do it already. It lasts as long as the person’s term lasts. That way they don’t have missed votes or waste time on special elections. They don’t have 100 year olds representing them like in America, so dying in office is less relevant here… but still, it’s a very cool system. That would be something that I wish we’d take up in America considering how slim our majority is.
