This week, the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta transferred the governance of OLMC Parramatta to Mercy Partners. A historic moment for the Sisters and our College, the event was an opportunity to reflect on how OLMC is an enduring work of the Sisters of Mercy. .

Today, we celebrate Catherine McAuley as a mother! On August 9, 1822 Catherine's cousin Anne Conway Byrn died leaving four children to Catherine. Five years later, on August 10, 1827, Catherine's sister Mary died leaving 5 children in Catherine's care.

Today we remember Catherine McAuley's father, James McAuley, who died July 20, 1783. James is often credited with Catherine's deep connection to her #Catholic faith.

Tomorrow, April 9, will mark 31 years since Catherine McAuley was declared Venerable by Pope John Paul II. bit.ly/2Vj9Q2S

Today we give thanks & remember in our prayers all Mercy benefactors, beginning with William Callaghan, Catherine's benefactor, whose anniversary it is. Leaving his entire fortune to Catherine enabled her to build the House of Mercy and care for the poor sick and uneducated.

Today is the anniversary of the death in 1798 of Catherine's mother, Elinor McAuley.
