Does a Wayspot need great reviews to deserve being on the map?
This week's discussion started with a hot take: if a business has less than 4 stars, should it even be a Wayspot?
Our answer? That's not how Wayfarer works.
A Wayspot's value comes from whether it encourages exploration, exercise, or social connection not its online rating.

@malachimaxeyusa I kinda hate watermelon, but what other fruits does that work with?
English

@Losifer026 Yes, but it's on the submitter to make sure they tell the reviewer about it.
English

Memorial benches are one of Wayfarer's most debated nominations.
Niantic says the person being honored should be notable to the community.
The question is:
Who decides what's notable?
And is it the submitter's job to prove it?

@wayspotters One that rejects too much. That kills motivation and prevents people from trying to nominate anything. A newbie that gets 3+ rejections out of their first 5 is probably not going to continue trying.
English

🤔 Which is worse?
✅ A city that accepts too much
OR
❌ A city that rejects too much
Jamal argues over-rejection drives away Wayfinders before they ever get started.
An imperfect map can improve.
A community with no submitters can't.

@wayspotters That being said, with the park renovations we’re having at a few of parks in town, once they’re completed I think the hassle will be worth it because I’m thinking there will be a huge net gain in two, and we’ll break even in the other.
English

@wayspotters If I see something really bad, on k-12 or obstructing emergency services, I’ll report that and it’s usually taken care of. Outside of that, unless it can be replaced by something else, I’m not bothering because I’m not willing to do all the work it takes to remove something.
English

Chris and Jamal debate reporting bad Wayspots—poll numbers vs real behavior, how tough removals can be, and when something is so egregious it must be flagged. Map cleanup vs nomination effort sparks lively discussion. #wayspotterspodcast #NianticWayfarer

@Touyarokii 1 Rowlet and I are gonna take a nap. Makes the flight feel like it took 15 minutes.

@gocastpodcast Being able to have a lot of options of what you can do with your rewards. For example, I liked being able to save the rocket boss radars for shadow legends I actually wanted; but now you have to complete the research if you want the next one.

@wayspotters Also the corn bread turned out perfect. Best brand of corn bread I’ve ever had!

Bacon love runs deep 🥓! Kids go bonkers when bacon’s involved—even sneaky little heists mid-meal. Breakfast just isn’t complete without it! #BaconLife #FamilyMoments #BreakfastGoals #Foodie #Parenting #SnackAttack #Yum #KitchenAdventures #FoodFun #LifeWithKids

@uniquemoviemom Captain America, and it’s not even close. Bow and arrow Batman knockoff is pretty high tier; but Cap can do everything he does along with having everything boosted beyond peak in strength and reflexes.

@wayspotters Once you get to the bottom of you hit show more replies there are even more. I add to it every time one comes through.
English

@wayspotters I feel like my log of approved appeals in our little community on here must mean that I’m terribly petty about this specifically. 😂
English

Sometimes being petty pays off 😅 Niantic may approve what the community disagrees with. Appeals can be tricky, but persistence can get it on the map! #Wayfarer #POI #Niantic #PokemonGO #GameSpots #Community #Appeals #Persistence #GamerLife

@wayspotters Approves it needs in order to be approved; and maybe every 5-10 denies cause it to need to reach a higher threshold of approves in order to be approved. So instead of 35 total approves it needs 45-50. So the more gatekeepers rejecting for silly reasons the slower the system moves
English

@wayspotters If I had to guess that may because the most gatekeepy elements have moved back to OPR. How I think the system approves or denies is in a tiered system. My guess is that if you got 35 approves and 0 denies it would go through immediately, however, the more denies it gets the more
English

Jamal & Chris put on the tinfoil hats to discuss the sudden Wayfarer speed-up — approvals flying through in under 24 hours, queues shifting fast, and community voting moving quicker than ever. #WayspottersPodcast #Wayfarer #Season5 #PoGO
