Debating whether to apply for the PICU job in ST3. I haven't made a start and the deadline is midnight. Im really interested in it but worried that it'll limit my chance to step up on the reg rota & also needing to sit clinicals soon that I'll miss out on too much general paeds

@DrMaxxC There’s always PICU! And unfortunately it’s not running this year but keep your eyes peeled for the West Midlands acute paediatrics oope which has a year of adult icu and anaesthetics followed by picu and paeds ed! It might come back!

@Dr_DeanS We went to bensons and tried a bunch of different beds. Went with the Sleep Healthy Eco 2000, it has different firmness levels at head/feet and back. They can often do deals in person too

We ordered a new king bed as the double was just too small but now I don't know what mattress to get. They all seem so expensive, simba one is now over £1k for a king and I don't have that kind of money. Any recommendations?

@DrMaxxC I like that ‘pee on it’ is still an option touted about for any sort of water-based sting. Definitely what I was told to do as a kid whatever the source. I had a practice question about weaver fish, sadly didn’t come up in the exam, would have nailed that question

@zoejohnson__ Pastest has useful videos and there’s usually a discount code floating about somewhere. Try to find other people to practice with. Look for books in the library. The RCPCH study day was helpful (just online, I didn’t do the in person one) feel free to message me!

@Dr_DeanS I did it mid st3 because life pushed it back a bit from my original plan. Would have liked to do it beginning of st2 so I had more time for resits if needed. I definitely had enough clinical experience because a fair amount you have to learn/revise for the exam anyway

Does anyone have any advice, when the best time to sit RCPCH Clinical exam? I'm in no real rush, mainly due to finances and experience but would be keen to have it under my belt, if possible, by the end of ST2. Or is it better done as ST3 with more experience?
