Dear Soopbyeols, Today, Forestella Stream Team would like to speak a little more sincerely with you about streaming and album support. If you’ve ever wondered about how we can send our support to Forestella, please take a moment to read this through to the end. Before we prepare for the new full-length album, looking back on the past years since Forestella Stream Team was organized, it seems that we haven’t yet seen widespread participation in streaming and album purchases across the fandom. While some may find streaming or purchasing albums difficult, we believe that low participation is also due to a limited awareness about how important and necessary these efforts are. With that in mind, before Forestella’s album is released, we would like to share why streaming and buying albums are the most essential ways to support Forestella. What is streaming? Streaming refers to repeatedly playing a specific playlist on music platforms in order to raise a song’s chart ranking. It’s a simple process — you can stream just by clicking the play button on your phone or computer — but it plays a significant role in improving Forestella’s chart performance and increasing their public recognition. 1. Greater Visibility and Public Recognition through Chart Entry Since many public listeners tend to explore songs through real-time charts or trending playlists major music services, chart entry is an opportunity to introduce Forestella’s music to a wider audience. Entering the chart increases the likelihood of being featured on main playlists within music services or appearing in users’ algorithm-based recommendations. Songs included in playlists are often played in various places such as stores, restaurants, and cafés, which leads to repeated public exposure. News about entering the ranks on music charts can quickly become a topic of discussion on online communities and social media. Stories like “This artist entered certain charts,” “They climbed to a higher rank,” tend to spread and draw even more public attention. Ultimately, chart performance goes beyond simple numbers — it serves as an important stepping stone for building public recognition and interest. As recognition and interest grow, the possibility of Forestella’s songs becoming global hits will also increase. 2. Invitations to TV Shows, Award Ceremonies and Music Festivals Music chart rankings and album sales are key indicators of an artist’s achievements and the strength of the fandom. Production teams of different programs tend to cast popular artists, and they refer to chart performance and album sales when making casting decisions. Artists with high chart rankings or strong album sales are more likely to appear on broadcasts, YouTube programs, and music festivals such as Coachella. (If we continue to strengthen Forestella’s presence this way, there may come a day when global fans can see Forestella on local broadcasts their own countries.) High-ranking songs on music streaming services are likely to be included on Korean K-Pop music show charts. Music show programs are widely watched by K-pop fans around the world. Rankings on K-Pop music shows such as Show! Music Core, M Countdown, and Show Champion are determined by a combination of factors, including digital chart scores, album sales. Earning first place on these programs is a huge honor for Korean artists. Forestella’s highest ranking to date is 8th place on Show! Music Core with “Nella Notte.” Year-end award ceremonies also determine winners based on digital streaming numbers, chart performance, album sales, and fan votes. Major awards such as the Circle Chart Awards, Hanteo Music Awards, MAMA Awards and the Korean Music Awards place significant importance on these data, Strong performance in streaming could open the possibility for Forestella to receive a prestigious award at a year-end ceremony. Forestella has tens of thousands of international fans, but the current data tells a different story: • Stream Team runs Stationhead 24/7 in shifts, yet the number of concurrent listeners has never exceeded 60 fans. • For new music releases, streaming counts in Korea are over six times higher than those from international fans (Melon: 196,820 streams / Spotify: 31,211 streams). • During the first week of ‘Unfinished’ album release, global album sales did not exceed 17 copies according to Hanteo Chart records. • For the ‘Everything’ album, only around 10 fans purchased the album via the international group order. Just as you’ve shown your support for Forestella over many area, we ask that you bring that same passion to streaming and album purchases. As fans of musicians, listening to their music on streaming platforms and buying their albums is the most fundamental way to support them. To help increase international participation, our team will be providing a series of guides on: 1. How to stream properly so that your streams count (Spotify, Apple Music, Stationhead, YouTube) 2. Ways to support Forestella beyond streaming (Posting short-form content, social media, radio requests, etc.) 3. Album support during comeback (how to purchase or donate albums effectively) If you truly love Forestella, please take the time to read, share, and participate.
