Him putting such concrete walls up would be part of his struggle to keep up any friendships as well. I do think a lot of us write fanfic that allows JC to connect with ppl again. But I think in cannon its very hard for him, because of everything that has happened to him.

Additionally, as he's the SL it would be hard for him to confide in any of them. And I do wonder if some of that is trauma. Like I think he's unable to open himself up to ppl because of what happens with WW/X. The only person we see him letting close is JL.

okay sorry really angsty thought thats tangential but... I also feel JC isn't able to make or keep friends after that. I think he makes his life work and JL. It's not healthy. I do think he cares and loves his sect... but there's a distance he puts there.

I can also see how after WWX's death, JC would've become too busy and had no interest in playing nice with people. It just seems like the kind of relationship that would've withered in time, like how one loses people they were in the same friends group with in high school.
