D-Day remembered.
@AFP's Lou Benoist photographs a dummy of a paratrooper hanging from the church of Sainte-Mere-Eglise, France.
An American paratrooper - John Marvin Steele (1912-1969) - landed on the pinnacle of the church tower in Sainte-Mere-Eglise, the first village to be liberated by the US Army during Operation Overlord on June 6, 1944.
In June, France will hold a ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of the 1944 Normandy landings, also known as the D-Day landings, that laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front
