This is Bishop Shawn McKnight, who reigns over the diocese where America’s largest SSPX community resides in St. Mary’s, Kansas — home of the Immaculata.👇🏻

@PaulBunyan1976 The difference is those schismatics are honest about not being in union with Rome. You should try it--being honest with yourselves and everyone else.

@LouisMassett Why is it bad to be excommunicated from Vatican 2? Won't they just have ecumenical unity with you anyway? It hasn't stopped them with other schismatics

Newsweek ran this today on the July 2 SSPX excommunications. Jordan King gave the story two voices — a current SSPX lay leader, and me, speaking from the other side of the exodus. “I firmly believe things are going to get worse.” Full piece: newsweek.com/sspx-member-sa… Book: amazon.com/dp/B0H4XPJWC8?…

Do you know the Arabs are direct decendents of Ismael the son of Abraham? Do you recall St. Paul pointing to the Gentiles statue of the unknown God and telling them he wants to teach them about him? Too many Rad Trads try to put the worst spin on efforts to find commonality and to bring people to Christ. Are their Ecumenists who go too far, who erroneously think evangelization is wrong? Yes. I think Pope Francis even said things that I thought were misleading ( I don't think he didn't believe in evangelization, I think he just had an imprudent habit of speaking off the cuff and saying things that weren't well thought out--that he thought more often than not, in todays day and age evangelization was often done ineffectively.) The Pope has never sanctioned sodomy. I believe he never wil, but you all act as if he has or it's a matter of time. So you're basically cutting off your nose to spite your face. If that were to happen then Roman Catholic ecclesiology would implode.

@LouisMassett So where is the line? If the Pope says Catholics & Muslims pray to the same God We just blindly say ok I guess our Jesus was just a profit If he legalizes gay marriage which he doesn't stop rogue priests today We just say ok Sodomy is Catholic now The church is in crisis

👆 This comment illustrates the core problems with Lefebvrism ideology. 1. He claims Rad Trads want Catholicism, but fail to comprehend Catholic Tradition is always with and loyal to the Pope. 2. When faithful Catholics oppose and reject the pseudo-justifications of their schismatic acts and spirits, they unjustly and uncharitable conclude orthodox Catholics who profess loyalty to the Papacy endore the problems from the left wing of the Church. Brother, this isn't a game of checkers here. We're playing chess. Cut your momma's apron strings and begin the pursuit of thinking for yourself and return to your Holy Mother Church. She'll save you not the Rad Trad sect.

Fr Garrigou-Lagrange, while holding firm to the traditional doctrine extra ecclesiam nulla salus, explains how non-Catholics can attain justification and the beatific vision: "All persons, even those who have not had the Gospel preached to them, receive graces sufficient for them to save their souls. Certainly, they are helped far less than those born in the Catholic Church, but they receive help sufficient for salvation. If they correspond to the graces received, if they act according to the dictates of conscience, as they are prompted to do by actual grace, then by a series of graces and by constant fidelity to inspirations, they finally receive the light of faith and acquire that life of charity, by means known to God, even if He has to send an angel or a preacher of the faith to them, as He sent the Apostle St. Peter to Cornelius the centurion."

@QuiaPulvisEs I was there in 1988, before and after the the first illicit consecrations. I vividly remember how it changed the spirit within the Society. From that point forward, half of their messaging was redirected from the Gospels of Jesus Christ, to the propaganda of Marcel Lefebvre.

@LouisMassett Most faithful Catholics take what the Pope says seriously, and people not already ensconced in the Society are not likely to be easily persuaded that the Pope is wrong about this. My family was already half in, half out (ok more than half out), but not for doctrinal reasons. 3/

"Part of me wants to free the people I love from the shackles. To turn their heads gently, one at a time, and let them see. My father is still in the cave. Several of my siblings are still in the cave. Old friends from St. Mary’s are still in the cave — including, apparently, one who has told me not to call him from a ditch. I would give a great deal to reach behind each of them and turn their heads, and let them see the sun for even a minute, and let them understand that what they have been describing to each other for four decades is a shadow of a reality that is more beautiful, more merciful, more expansive, and more Catholic than the version they have been given. The sad irony of the small army of anon online SSPX defenders personally attacking and insulting anyone who criticizes the SSPX consecrations is that not a single SSPX priest on the planet would support their actions, and would in fact demand they stop and go to Confession.

@LouisMassett "Sure Maciel was a satanic monster rapist. Sure he was fêted and celebrated by the hierarchy up to the pope. But at least he didn't disobey the POPE!" Your religion is not one that I have any interest in. It's a cult of authority with few redeeming features. It's not Catholicism.

That's because he didn't flout is obstinance like Lefebvre did. But let's be clear, Johh "Traddington", sin is sin. This "whataboutism" strategy isn't going to obsolve the SSPX.
John Traddington@JohnTraddington

Meet Marcial Maciel, Legionaries of Christ founder. Accused throughout his 63-year priesthood, after his death he was found to have abused at least 60 minors and fathered at least six children with four mistresses. He even molested his own sons. He was never excommunicated.

No it isn't. Furthermore l, your argument is just more bush league "whataboutism." Do you want to talk about why Marcial was wicked? Do you want to express disgust over the Vatican's handling of it? Lets! Just don't come around here with your weak ass "but, but Marcial was worse than Lefebvre!" fallacious argument.

You first. Start with working on your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. I didn't "defend" Macial. I was defending the Pope against another "whataboutism." Macial was a monster who HID--get that? He hid his evil from the eyes of others. Lefebvre flaunted his disobedience. He openly called the Pope a Modernist (heretic). Are you able to discern the difference now?

@KiernanTroy Yawn. I'm not the one who "whatabout" Macial. I was defending the attack on the Church regarding Macial. Once they found out what he really was he got hammered. That is a fact.

@LouisMassett Hey champion, what was Lefebvre doing while Marcial was sodomizing people under his care. I'll tell you, he was in the slums of Africa spreading the faith, getting his hands dirty while that deviant was getting other parts of his body dirty, so show some respect!
