@Simon_Ingari People are starting to forget how disruptive the pandemic was to employment. I know someone who had three jobs in a five-year span 2020-2025 for the same reasons here.

In Janaury, HR received a woman's resume with the following job history... She got a job in 2021. It ended in 2022. She got a new job in 2022. It ended in 2023. She got a new job in 2023. It ended in 2024. She got a new job in 2024. It ended in July 2025. Even though she was a serial job hopper, she was a referral from a current employee, so HR gave her a quick call. "Why'd your job end in 2022?" Budget cuts, then laid off. "Why'd your job end in 2023?" Company went out of business. "Why'd your job end in 2024?" Company was acquired and all of us were laid off. "Why'd your job end in 2025?" Cut in the 4th and final round of mass layoffs. "Wait - so none of these job endings were voluntary? You didn't leave for more money? You didn't leave because you hated your boss or the culture sucked? You didn't leave because you were a poor performer or got fired?" Stop believing someone is a "job hopper" until you talk to them. And teach your hiring team to stop thinking this way too.
