@nickyschrire @kozmikray & further, as acknowledged, there IS ‘other beauty’. Planetarily speaking we r in a time of “un-boxing” ourselves. Opening 2 expand & include. The % of RECORDED music is tiny if we listen to the whole world. Melody? Melodic? Pretty? Jazz? R these fixed or r WE?

@LoversLiving @kozmikray I agree that Scandinavian jazz musicians get it right very often! I'm a big fan of that sub-genre & receive a lot of releases from that part of the world. Spain too. I'd hate to think beauty is a rare thing but in jazz, while it's heavily subjective, sometimes it seems so. Alas.

I miss the song in so many new jazz releases. Whether by vocalists or instrumentalists, & acknowledging a more “challenging” listen does it for many, I miss jazz musicians making music that is…pretty 😬 1/2

@kozmikray I really mean “pretty” as in melodic. If melody is what one craves, it’ll be rewarding. But I’m aware that some folks find other sounds, approaches and angles rewarding. Would add crafting a great melody doesn’t have anything to do with comfort zone. It’s a skill.
