OKC vs IND Game 5 NBA Finals Breakdown 🏆 125 ❤️s for a lotto play TONIGHT! This series has been amazing. Now, we're tied again, back at the PayCom center and all we can hope is for the good vibes to continue. OKC pulled a page out of IND's playbook with a comeback, but it was one a lot more strategic with tons of factors leading up to the Pacers' eventual demise. Let's break it down and see what we can expect more in our top betting points: 1) The Thunder's new rotations. In Game 3, Indiana held Shai to just 24 points as a result of constant pressure all 94 feet from the Pacers' defense and mixed coverages. OKC's counter: new rotations that eventually led to them stealing this game. Shai scoring the final 15 of 16 points for OKC was bound to happen as OKC opted to preserve his energy early on to allow him to build for the clutch moments. Instead of his normal 12 minute 1Q rotation, he played just 7. And Jalen Williams instead ran 11, taking the pressure of Shai early (16 1H points) by acting as the primary ballhandler. In turn, Shai was ready to help OKC dominate the clutch moments, something they failed to do in G3 when they lost and couldn't buy a basket. Once again, expect this to happen. And with Shai at 8.5 1Q points on FD and JDub at 4.5, those seem way too high and low respectively for their opportunity. 2) What does the double big lineup being back mean for Game 5? OKC surprisingly reintroduced the Chet-Hartenstein starting lineup instead of Cason Wallace in G4. Hartenstein just played 21 minutes though and OKC will likely view the change indifferently with it having a +0. Nonetheless, with a 10 rebound advantage, I do expect OKC to run this lineup back and that led to stark changes in IND's offense last game, namely Pascal Siakam who we'll get into in Point 3. My main takeaway: Chet's maximization of minutes (37) and rebound chances (20) as he feasted weakside. If you remember, two games ago I mentioned: "If Chet's minutes do come to fruition, o8.5 rebounds should be a great spot for the near future." Now, they have. And with Indiana being 4/22 last game on FGA targeting him as the primary defender, his weakside positioning and overall opportunity should be maximized. Have to listen to my own words and take o8.5 rebounds here, especially at home. 3) Why Pascal Siakam is the key. With OKC's introduction of the double big lineup, we also saw a lot more success for Pascal Siakam who set the tone with 10 1Q points last game. Had the primary matchup of Jalen Williams and attacked the perimeter when getting switched onto Isaiah Hartenstein. Namely though, we saw adjustments from OKC to slow him down throughout the game as he only had 10 points the final 3 quarters after. This was outlined by extra help to prevent him from getting into the paint, leading to Siakam having a series high 45 passes along with 8 potential assists - although the film made it seem like more. This was also with him receiving just 8 4Q touches (had 66 in the game). Rick Carlisle postgame addressed this and simply stated that: "That can't happen." Expecting Siakam to stay engaged here and when combining the overall elite opportunity, 3.5 assists at +120 seems great. 4) OKC's offensive adjustment that led to success. OKC had just 3 3PM, only 11 assists, and somehow won the game. Once again, we go back to the elite 4Q from Shai and OKC's progressive tweaks that all compiled to a masterful clutch performance. This change: Shai becoming the ballscreener for Jalen Williams. OKC utilized this more than ever in Game 5 and did it to create confusion and mismatches that led to great opportunities. Expecting more of this in Game 5 with the Thunder trying to keep Indiana guessing. Helps JDub's assist opportunity and if the game stays close, Shai 2H points will be worth a peek at half based on how the 1H goes. 5) Indiana needing more. We've highlighted the key that Pascal SIakam is in this game. But, Indiana needs more. The constant loss of Cason Wallace minutes hasn't boded well for Haliburton who attacks him constantly. Despite a good game from him, the inconsistencies in his play were glaring as he wasn't at his best for all 4Q and OKC almost dared him to score at times on Chet Holmgren which he for some reason agreed to attempt. Don't expect that here. And call me delusional, but I will be going back to Myles Turner to pick up the load. The constant presence of a big led to a series high 6 3PA for him and while they closed off the short roll at times, he had success working with Siakam. Indiana needs his size with Thomas Bryant now a DNP and he himself said he knows "there's no excuses" now. Played o14.5 PA, but if you don't share the asme delusions as me, there is likely some value in the other role guys with how evenly we saw the volume distribution LG. As always, we're hoping for a good game here. See some key points to attack and I think both teams have really tested one another thoroughly thus far in this series. With the OKC magnet ball performance coming in G2 as well, think we get a close one. BOL as always, let's make some money 🤝
