#WATCH | Kozhikode, Kerala: On PM Modi's visit to Manipur, Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair (Retd) says, "The visit of the Prime Minister has come up at a very appropriate time and why I say this is because the context has to be really understood. In our immediate neighbourhood in the northeast, we already had a situation where there was a lot of turmoil, disturbances in Myanmar and Bangladesh since the 5th of August last year. The Gen Z protest in Nepal and the violence and the killings that have happened, so of the four important neighbours and I'm not counting China here, which is Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan and Nepal, you had three in a very disturbed situation. These four are very important countries for the Northeast, given their location and their significance. So, by the Prime Minister going there, it not only sets to rest the immense criticism that has come, but more importantly, will be the first step for a roadmap to greater peace. I'm told there is an announcement of some projects worth Rs 8,000 crore plus of which about Rs 1200 crores worth are in the valley areas and about Rs 7,300 crores worth in the hills. So that's a major gain that's going to happen for the state of Manipur..."
