Bobby Thomson after hitting The Shot Heard Round the World, October 3, 1951
The moment that for me was where "old time baseball" stepped into "modern day baseball."
It wasn't just this homerun. Great new players were coming in. It was Mays' and Mantle's rookie years. Integration was really beginning to be felt. The game was really looking more like baseball today than baseball in, say, Babe Ruth's time.

@vintagemapstore Why does St. George, UT have a red dot on it?

@tomaspueyo "Where else can we see this?"
Couple guesses...
North side of the Pyrenees?
East side of the Andes?

Don't know what YOU think, but one of my VERY FAVORITE songs of 1975!! And I consider 1975 probably the 3rd best year in music, right behind 1966 and 1967.
Loved it the minute I heard it. The riff! Jesus... Such a simple riff, but it became an earworm digging deep into my brain. It's only weakness was the fade that goes into Lonely Old People. I wish he hadn't done that and let LTWTMS be unconnected to any other song. Even where it IS disconnected (the All The Best album, for example), the fadeout is still awkward.
Other than that, ear candy.
