RANT: The shared-chat/shared-viewership feature on Twitch is complete bullshit, specifically the viewer count part. It is devastating to solo streamers. You work hard for years to grow a presence, to then be buried in every directory cause groups share their viewer count/chat. It’s just not fair. Ex: If one streamer has 250 viewers, another has 100, another has 50, and another with 10 - ALL FOUR will be streaming with 410+ viewers. When a new game launches these days, the Twitch directory always looks the same: 4 people with the same exact (highly inflated) viewer count, that pushes ALL OF THEM to the top of the directory. This is a crushing blow to anyone not abusing the system, and ABUSE is what folks do. I’ve literally seen folks join view counts and not even play together. Or even WORSE, they combine chats when they aren’t even playing the same game. This inflates their views across multiple games/directories. It’s a joke. It’s essentially view botting at this point. This feature needs to go. Twitch directories are a meme now cause of it. Combing a chat? Fine. Adding the viewer count together? Needs to go. There are other and better ways to encourage streaming together. You shouldn’t be punished for NOT doing it. End rant.
