Boda riders rank highest in road crash fatalities and injuries. So @ibanda_sim24704, a former boda rider is using his own small resources to promote road safety through roadside preaching!

🏍️🏍️Planning to Fly with a boda-bee?
A helmet is a must have!
That helmet could save your life in case of a crash!
1.Helmets aim to reduce the risk of serious head and brain injuries by reducing the impact of force or collision to the head.
2. Helmets reduce the risk of death by almost 40%.
3. Correct use of helmet considerably decreases the risk and severity of head injuries by over 70%.
Do not use a boda-boda without a helmet! @PoliceUg have issued an alert to all Boda-Boda passengers to get helmets and use them Everytime or risk punitive measures.

For the past two years, every three months, Geofrey Ndhogezi and Kalungi James crisscross Kampala talking to boda riders for the @lubyanza quarterly report.
They've dealt with suspicious boda riders, terrible rains, boda breakdowns, and shifty policemen.

In Kampala, mechanics are the surgeons of the boda boda industry, keeping everyone going where they need to.
But their yangas and links to motorcycle theft and murder means they are often accused of malpractice.

Currency: Akagolo to Amaja
Akagolo: Very little money
Amaja: Lots of money.
Ntemera: Luganda for: chop up my share
Kido: 500 shillings ($0.13). The very definition of akagolo.
Lwasa: 1,000 shillings
Effite: 5,000 shillings
Kinyaanya: 20,000 shillings
Ezikke (baboon): 50,000 shillings
*Ekiddo: Traffic police sweeps or crackdowns
Obusajja: Police officers on the street
*Nalufenya: Police vans into which one might be bundled upon arrest (Nalufenya is a notorious police torture house)
*Kampala street lingo has historically been a political record of, especially, repression. Study the city's jargon over the decades, and it will give you a picture of violent rule and corruption in Uganda
