I love weevils, but specifically THIS weevil!! Exophthalmus quindecimpunctatus. My students call them field work fairies because they're so precious and such a beautiful color! We saw this one this past Monday in Utuado, PR.

Interesting paper on the use of hypotheses in ecology. The authors found it "difficult to determine the core purpose of papers" without hypotheses. That is one *excellent* reason to formulate mechanistic hypothesis early in research! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.100…

New Nature paper provides evidence that science has become less innovative since the 1950s. The authors suggest reversing the trend by: 1. reading widely, 2. focusing less on quantity of papers, & more on research quality, 3. taking year-long sabbaticals. nature.com/articles/s4158…
