After entering the portal, John Blackwell told ESPN he wanted a place where he could enhance his skills for the NBA "and a place where I can compete for a national championship.'' Duke checks those boxes. The Badgers opened his door and you can't begrudge him walking through it.

Nothing like running away from the challenge of getting the UW football program back on track. Wasn't it the goal? He didn't have Paul Chryst's back. He didn't have Jim Leonhard's back. And you can't say that he has Luke Fickell's back. Not with such a consequential season ahead.

This speaks to the respect Henry Mason had from within the coaching fraternity, not only in his sport, but from every coach who got to know him. Henry also had the respect from every player that he mentored, from every life that he touched, from every person that he made better.

I rarely, if ever post, but this one hits different. Henry was one of the few remaining "real ones" in our profession. Always knew who I was, where I'd been recruiting, and offering to help every step of the way. I've always judged people by how they treat others and he was as good as they come when it came to valuing & respecting people. Heaven's wide-outs got better today...down here we won't quite be the same. Thank you Coach Mason!!!

Badgers executed possession game perfectly with tenacious forecheck for 2 periods. Dominated shots on goal. But couldn't capitalize on opportunities and get that 2nd goal. Ultimately spelled difference in outcome against Denver. A season of peaks and valleys. A future of promise.

Badgers have struggled while shorthanded all season and yet they outhustled and outworked North Dakota's power play, especially 5-on-3, a key sequence in 2-1 victory. They just wanted it more in support of Daniel Hauser who made key saves. Game of will at this time of the year.

When Chucky Hepburn entered the transfer portal it was an awakening to the new reality of doing bu$ine$$ in college basketball. It prepared us for the eventuality John Blackwell might take the same path and do what was in his best interests no matter his loyalty to the program.
