This was supposed to be a 3-4 inch note in a preview article when I saw @dandickau21 was calling tonight's Boise State/UNM game in the Pit. Then I heard Leon Rice mention it in a presser. Then I called @franfraschilla , and Dickau on Friday night. And pulled up some old articles. And, well, the note became a 1,500 word deep dive down a Lobo history rabbit hole that is online now and will be in Sunday's @ABQJournal print edition. Thank you to Dan and Fran, and the Journal's archives, for the help on this one. Maybe next time I'll get an idea like this before the evening it needs to be written.

@LucasPeerman Did you get it sorted? I have been blighted with this for 3 months and at times cannot tie my shoe laces due to the pain. Steroid injection this week so praying it helps
