A while ago I reviewed “More,” a memoir of a polyamorous woman. It received glowing coverage despite it being painfully clear, if you’re at all literate, that the author—a literal *cult survivor*—was manipulated into open marriage by her husband. She spends the whole book crying.

Faculty raging against AI: are you just openly abdicating your responsibility to prepare students for what's coming? AI is the future. Your anger doesn't change that. It just means your students learn it from someone else--or don't learn it at all. Enrollments will respond.

What’s up with the huge demographic of older american millennial readers who love Pynchon, Zadie Smith, Delillo, McCarthy, etc. but haven’t kept up with literature since then? This is one of the most prominent “literary types” I meet irl.


Malcom Gladwell says he is “ashamed” of having said in a previous panel discussion that trans women have a place in women’s sports. He says he was “cowed” into saying so. “Trans athletes have no place in the female category,” he says.
