Everyone talks about good & bad endings, but, although common, few properly honor the bittersweet ending, where things of value have been lost in service of a greater cause. You won, but you do not get what you want. Ambitious stories with humanity & a good message often do this

In the 90s, magazines like Gamefan openly pandered to otaku with massive sections dedicated to anime. Others at least paid lip service In the 00s, gaming press & media called“anime games” “tropey” while rolling out the red carpet for samey Western games We still see the effects

People forget that reviewers HATED any non-popular JRPGs back in the day. Game reviewers at the time were Xenophobic as hell. Outside of your latest FF and maybe DQ, anything with an anime aesthetic was ridiculed. It was brutal.

I actually didn't care for the overly stylized action the prequels brought. The Disney sequels had a lot of problems but the fight choreography was pretty low on the list.
