@Colt_Shelby @ArkTimes Sorry to nitpick but you said 2 on staff. Not at least two on the board. Though I see the importance of having people with that experience in various positions in education, I don’t see a difference between the credentials you wish and what Sanders put in. Other than approach.

Iowa is closing public schools because of its voucher program. Arkansas's story is tracking in the same way.

@Colt_Shelby @ArkTimes Fair enough. I’m out. Good luck to you. Again the money follows the student to get more competition, not prop up institutions that fail without severe changes.
English

@Colt_Shelby @ArkTimes I do appreciate your time and responses to my ramblings though.

Because the wrong people are in charge. I will put 2 experienced public educators on my staff to help guide the legislatures into real needs. Passing and taking away laws that will help.
Furthermore I would ask the general assembly to restructure the current board of education. If passed we will start suppling the proper tools for the job. Each area has different needs maybe they need a pre-school or more ALE classes or maybe a learning center to help supply kids with a future that will never have one getting passed up by the system.
I’m not completely against the vouchers. Homeschoolers across the state have told me they could easily do it under 3k, and many do. To the kids that it actually supplied an opportunity because of the income issues, I’m not against those if they want government money then the schools should do standardized test, if private school tests are better then that shall be the test we use.
English

@Colt_Shelby @ArkTimes Also there may be a few good or great public schools but taken as a whole AR has ranked pretty low in public education. Even before the current administration. Again I’m a big believer in school choice and vouchers because the old way was not working even with more $ thrown at it
English

I did not write the Arkansas constitution but I do plan on upholding it.
We have many good public schools across our state. I want all kids to get the education they deserve. Unfortunately the majority of Arkansans can’t afford to homeschool due to it takes some a 2 person household income to survive or they are single mother/fathers. 475k kids in the public education system and about 75k in the private/homeschool.
Also Arkansas is very rural state so private schools are not an option for many. We need to put public educators in charge of our public education to stop restricting the teachers of the capabilities of doing their job. ( I understand this is not always the case)

@Colt_Shelby @ArkTimes So, why would I send my kid to a sub performing school along with my tax $? It’s not all about the money. The U.S. spends the 4tg highest per pupil than other OECD countries but we don’t get the same outcome. So I’m not concerned about some schools losing income streams.
English

School choice is nothing new to Arkansas. The rising tuition in private schools is new. We need a process that helps our kids improve. Folks forget that a majority of our lower performing schools are poverty and I don’t see any private schools being put up in those districts. So are we helping?
Remember prior to this handout our private/homeschool kids were already successful. So I intend on fixing the problem where the problem is at.
English

@Colt_Shelby @ArkTimes Yes, you are right AR has had open enrollment for awhile. What I’m opposed to is for my tax dollars to be put into failed schools. The state funds roughly $8k/pupil. NLR spends roughly $14k/pupil. I’ve heard the NLR honors school is good. The general not so much.
English

@weatherninja I have to go that way today from LRAFB. Wish me luck.
English

@Luetgersm @donie They had the chance to do this with Don Lemon and passed.
English

@MikeyPanik @donie That’s an opinion and not a widely held opinion. Bye
English

@Luetgersm @donie I just proved to you that his Hamas take isn’t a crazy position
English

@MikeyPanik @donie Again you’re missing my original position, and disregard history in general. The point being that Piker says controversial things, holds crazy positions. I am a conservative but even I can recognize craziness coming from the right, like Tucker, or Owens.
English

@MikeyPanik @donie Save your breath. I’m not swayed by statistics provided by a Hamas proxy. Have a good life. Good bye.
English

@Luetgersm @donie Less evil does not equal good. But on a scale, it’s clear which of the two is FAR MORE EVIL than the other.

English

@MikeyPanik @donie How is that not saying Hamas isn’t good!? I’m sorry if you believe a terrorist organization is morally better than Israel there’s something wrong with your logic. One can critique Israel without without giving Hamas higher stature.
English

@Luetgersm @donie He didn’t say Hamas was good, just that it was better than Israel, which has disproportionately killed thousands and thousands more innocent people than Hamas.
English

@MikeyPanik @donie "Hamas is a thousand times better than the fascist settler colonial apartheid state of Israel. I stand by that." This among many others shows his ignorance of history, world events, etc. His recent trip to Cuba supporting that regime. The list goes on. Take care.
English

@Luetgersm @donie “His stance” / “his extreme communist views” / “his violent rhetoric” - that’s a whole lot of nothing, just regurgitating right wing propaganda. What specifically has he said that is an extreme view for clicks?
English

@MikeyPanik @donie His stance on Hamas. His extreme communist views. His violent rhetoric against opposing political views. I’m just saying if CNN is going to call out stupid right wing influencers the left has their own stupid influencers. Piker being at the top right now of stupidity.
English

@Luetgersm @donie What extreme view do you think Hasan is saying to get clicks? Name one.
