@HomericFuturist In this specific case of defense, compelling individuals has historically borne fruit. Some notable heroes only "voluntarily" accepted the call once compelled to do so. Its a paradox that doesn't play out with everything, but does for this case.

Think grad student, struggling artist, start up guy, etc. she has to think that there's a great glorious payoff coming soon. But she won't wait if you're trying to become the manager of a Walmart even if it pays a lot - because that's not dramatic.

It's hard to believe so many are falling for bate to vote dem or not vote to "send a message" to the GOP. The futher right that citizens vote, the further right politicians move -this phenomena was seen all over the western world when Trump was elected. They go where voters are.

If you want to send a message, you send it by voting for hard-right candidates in the Republican primaries. You DO NOT send a message to the GOP by staying home in November or by voting Democrat. Do not make the mistake of believing that Republicans will learn the right lesson if they lose in November. If anything, they'll just move further to the left.
