1/ I love working in a newsroom. I love the energy & excitement that accompany the pursuit of news. But having spent almost a year outside the newsroom, it turns out what I miss the most isn't the buzz, it's "social serendipity," as @amandamull neatly describes it.

I found a Polaroid photo inside a copy of "The Ballad of Sexual Dependency" by @crazynangoldin. It was a surprise. Unlike the Ray Johnson, which I knew of in advance. BTW, the @artinstitutechi exhibition of Johnson's work looks super-cool.

I have found all manner of things tucked inside books: clippings, letters, obits, and postcards. Today, I opened a book signed by artist Ray Johnson that includes an artwork/poem/note he wrote:

Dear @Microsoft & @satyanadella I have a request. And I believe implementing that request has the potential to help many individuals wrest some time away from work and back towards life.

@jaydcarlson Colleagues are responding in the evening. Not overnight.

@LuisClemens This is a lovely sentiment, but if people are checking emails overnight I think this is a culture, not a technology, problem. I get emails 24/7 from people around the world, and I just deal with them whenever it's convenient. If someone needs something urgently, they'll call me.

Think, though, of what even a modest bump in the use of this feature would mean in terms of fewer unnecessary work interruptions during off-hours.
