I really dislike that Anakin fans are now all generalized as reactionaries who want a male power fantasy. It’s revisionist history. When the PT first came out, many men vocally hated Anakin. They called him a whiny bitch who ruined Vader. Anakin’s early fanbase was women.

How did George Lucas so accurately predict what’s happening now 27 years ago?

@mightydudbolt My younger brother was 10 when TFA came out. The perfect age. He didn't like a single sequel. He still watches the prequels today, mostly Phantom Menace and Clone Wars. He hardly ever watches the OT either.

I've talked about this before because I have younger siblings. Revenge of the Sith has endured. It is THE Star Wars movie for many young people. It's certainly bigger than the original trilogy.

@sw_holocron I teach middle school. The students who like Star Wars enjoy the Mandalorian, Bad Batch and for whatever reason Revenge of the Sith specifically. From my small sample, the majority do not like the sequels.

Star Wars is inspired by like 0-3% of Dune and would still exist without Dune. If we are powerscaling cultural impact, there is no argument. Darth Vader’s breathing alone mogs any iconography from Dune. Lets be serious

@mightydudbolt I knew that the scene was a reshoot with a green screen, but I didn't know that it was so complex to put the scene together. And it looks like everything is real. An incredible achievement.

Actually, Joel Edgerton was apparently filmed separately against blue screen later, by himself. So as hard as it is to believe, I take that to mean that Piesse and Edgerton were not actually physically together for any of these shots! They actually went to Tunisia for Attack of the Clones and shot at the original filming location for the Lars homestead. At that time, Lucas also filmed material for the final scene in the next film. However, Lucas apparently decided during production of Revenge of the Sith that he wanted to re-do the scene. Instead of flying back to Tunisia for a single scene, he shot Ewan McGregor, Bonnie Piesse, and Joel Edgerton against green screen and used stills taken during Attack of the Clones to digitally recreate the set.

George Lucas has been named as the 4th Greatest American Innovator in a list by Forbes of the top 250 living innovators in celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Lucas is only being beaten by Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.
