Team England are reporting that Matthew Hudson-Smith has withdrawn from the Mixed 4x400m at the Commonwealth Games. They have also indicated Laviai Nielsen will run the individual 400m, in place of Amber Anning, with Louise Evans called in to the relay pool.

@glblathletichub @LukeBoyle10 The GB 3000m girls probably would have better chances of medaling in the 1500m but didn't want to risk not being selected at all. Maisie Mullett tried and missed out on selection for both 800m and 1500m.

@LukeBoyle10 Yes, definitely. Don’t trust Haylom in a slow race but not sure if she can lead it from the front either. And GHB can kick off a fast pace (28.8 last lap in Karlsruhe.)

OK, the pace was ponderous in the early stages but a 56.85 last 400m from Guillemot was super impressive in the 1500m heats! She’s the big threat to Hunter-Bell.

@srmills90 I hope the final will be too quick. Haylom has to go for something pacy to have a chance of winning?

Also really like Guillemot as she races everywhere and everything! She did the long course at the Euro XC and the mixed relay at the World XC (won medals at both) and a full indoor season, racing all distances too.

Whether England beat India comes down to game IQ again. If they go 8-0-56-0 against Bumrah and Varun C targeting low risk fours over high risk sixes, they probably win. But I'm fully confident they do 8-0-64-4 instead
