TAPPS Division III 📊 Semifinals Preview & Prediction 📊 ⭐ Semifinals Game #1 D1-1 Lubbock Christian School @LCHSEagles D3-2 Geneva School of Boerne @GSB_AthleticsTX 🔹 Few semifinal matchups in Texas private school football carry as much history, subplots, and emotional weight as Lubbock Christian vs. Geneva. These two programs last met on the state’s biggest stage in 2019, when Geneva stunned an undefeated Lubbock Christian team to capture the TAPPS Division III state championship. Six years later, the Eagles of LC are back in the semifinals for the fifth straight season, and the road to redemption once again runs through Geneva. Despite losing their starting quarterback midseason for the second time in three years, Lubbock Christian has not blinked — averaging a staggering 468 yards and 46.9 points per game behind an offense that has only gotten more dynamic since senior QB Jace Jackson took the reins. Jackson’s versatility was on full display last week with three rushing TDs, a passing TD, and even a receiving TD, while star RB Dai Dai Atkins (1,381 yards, 17 TDs) continues his torrid postseason run. Add in WR Keaton Lee (1,301 yards, 16 TDs) @KeatonLee_10, and it’s no surprise Lubbock Christian looks like a machine built for late November football. 🔹 Geneva arrives in Abilene with momentum that rivals any team in Texas. At 10–2, the Eagles are enjoying their best season since that 2019 title run and are powered by one of the most explosive young offenses anywhere in TAPPS. Junior QB Caleb Quitadamo @CalebQuitadamo has thrown for 3,484 yards and 36 TDs, RB Shae McNew has been unstoppable with 1,176 yards on the ground, and the receiving trio of Reid Aderholt, Chase Doran, and Brady Chandler is as dangerous as any in Division III. Geneva has posted 49 and 59 points in back-to-back playoff wins and showed its trademark opportunistic defense last week with a 94-yard kick return TD and a 70-yard pick-six that flipped the game. Their 19 takeaways are no accident — this group attacks, hits, and plays with confidence. 🔮 Prediction: Lubbock Christian 38 – Geneva 35 For all Geneva’s firepower, this feels like a matchup built for Lubbock Christian’s experience, depth, and physicality. LC has been here before — year after year — and every stumble in recent seasons (2019 title loss, 2023 semifinal heartbreak vs. Dallas Christian) has brought them right back to this moment. Geneva can absolutely score, but their defense has been vulnerable against elite run games, and Lubbock Christian has the most balanced attack they’ve faced all year. I think it'll be close, Lubbock Christian heads to the Championship game. ⭐ Semifinals Game #2 D2-1 Dallas Christian School-Mesquite @DCSChargers D2-2 The Covenant School of Dallas 🔹 Dallas Christian enters the semifinals looking every bit like the dynasty program that has dominated TAPPS Division III for years. The Chargers have ripped off six straight wins and are fresh off a 51–13 dismantling of Covenant Christian — yet another entry in a season full of blowouts. Offensively, DC continues to overwhelm teams with its balance and efficiency: Logan Beck powered the ground attack with 139 yards and two touchdowns, while QB Luke Syvrud @LukeSyvrud delivered his best game yet, throwing for a career-high 228 yards on 81.8% passing. When the Chargers get both phases humming, they look exactly like the team that’s been to four straight state championship games. But where Dallas Christian truly separates itself is on defense. Last week was a clinic in pass-rush brutality — the Chargers recorded nine sacks, led by the terrifying duo of Jaxson Barr and Hudson Deats, who combined for seven on their own. Deats continues to be a true barometer for DC’s success: when he records at least one sack, Dallas Christian is 7–1 this season. Add in ball-hawking efforts from players like Dylan Belt @DylanBelt7, and the DC defense looks like the most disruptive unit remaining in Division III. 🔹 Covenant School deserves credit for reaching the semifinal after a 42–24 win over New Braunfels Christian, and their four-game winning streak shows they’re peaking at the right time. Their offense has found rhythm, their playmakers are producing, and their confidence is rising — but this is a massive step up in competition. Covenant has dropped its last five meetings with Dallas Christian, including a 45–7 loss earlier this season, and stopping the Chargers’ physicality in the trenches remains a tall order. 🔮 Prediction: Dallas Christian 45 – Covenant School of Dallas 17 Dallas Christian looks faster, deeper, and more battle-tested, and unless Covenant can slow the game down and avoid falling behind early, this semifinal could follow a familiar script. #txhsfb #TAPPSFootball
