To My Fellow Travelers, A Personal Note from Siem Reap ❤🇰🇭
I know some of you might be feeling unsure right now about traveling to Cambodia, especially with the recent news about tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border. As someone currently living here in Siem Reap, I wanted to take a moment to share what things are actually like on the ground.
Life in Siem Reap continues as normal. Tourists are still visiting the temples, cafes are full of conversation, and locals are welcoming visitors with the same kindness and warmth this place is known for.
I completely understand the concern, anytime you hear about conflict in a region you’re planning to visit, it raises questions. But it’s important to know that the areas experiencing those tensions are far from Siem Reap and Cambodia’s main tourist hubs. Places like Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Kampot, and Kep are also unaffected and fully open to travelers.
If you're planning a trip or already en route, you can feel confident continuing your journey. I do always recommend checking in with your embassy, travel advisor, or official Cambodian tourism sources for the most up-to-date info, just to stay informed.
But from where I stand, literally living and working in the heart of Siem Reap, it’s peaceful, welcoming, and very much business as usual.
I hope this brings you a bit of clarity and comfort. Cambodia is a beautiful country with so much to offer, and the people here are ready to welcome you with open arms.
Travel safe, and I truly hope you get to experience the magic of this place for yourself.
