I'm going to a grant panel meeting later this week, and this evidence will flow through my brain as I stew over the minutia of many large grants. I tend to agree—short and sweet. Is it a good idea that needs to be done, and is it tractable? link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Just attended @CIWEM @stormwater_jo @LundyLian brilliant free webinar on Highway Runoff and the Water Environment - hugely important topic, thank you 👍
Joanna Bradley@stormwater_jo

Hot off the press, Stormwater Shepherds UK & @CIWEM have published a report on pollution from highway runoff. Find out how polluting this runoff is & how the failure to apply the regulations is leaving rivers open to toxic pollution every time it rains. stormwatershepherds.org.uk/2024/05/08/bol…

@dynesius_ @COVIDPoops19 This is also our ambition - we have an online database with some initial data shared from several countries so proof of concept. But not close to providing a regular service as you describe - maybe we can discuss initiatives in the new year?

@LundyLian @COVIDPoops19 Interesting. Currently I am aiming to quickly implement existing weekly data which will be in various formats etc, utilize some data normalization. Then visualize per country geo regions to provide a birdseye-view providing insight to people. Would Norman this help yet? :)

@dynesius_ @LundyLian Lots of challenges to set up one data repository including funding, different methods and formats, and data ownership/privacy. Lots of discussion on it though.

🌊Urban waterbodies can get polluted through various routes: rainfalls, snowmelt events, and sewer overflows.. 🏞To better understand how our urban #water bodies get the #pollution from, we need to get more insights into the different pathways. How? 👉buff.ly/3R1LsB4

🧪 The EC Chemicals Strategy, part of the European #GreenDeal, is dedicated to creating a toxic-free environment. To succeed, we must spot #water #pollution from the source. How can we do it? 👇 To learn more, read our dedicated article: buff.ly/3R1LsB4 #zeropollution

@LundyLian Interesting to see noone chime in on this but you. I guess it’s an analytical chemist question. Nominal concentrations are ones where someone measures the mass/vol of the analyte added to the stock solution but doesn’t measure the stock solution to verify. So it’s ‘theoretical’

Dear Twitter-SciBoffins, What is the correct way to report the significant figures for a concentration of an analyte in a dilution series where the stock solution is nominal (ie. theoretical). Ex: See below - is the top line correct to use or too many significant figures?

@OxonAndrew Umm from a purely 'no unnecessary ink' perspective the sig fig row gets the message across with less ink - so I vote for that option 😃
