How is Zimbabwe second if it’s also 13th Globally like South Africa?? Isn’t that a tie??
Anyway, it’s a useless metric… We speak many languages everyday, they are for communication not competition… there are better things to compete for than competing on who speaks better English… it adds no value to anyone.

According to DW Africa, South Africa has been ranked the best English-speaking country in Africa and 13th globally, according to Education First (EF) in its 2025 EF English Proficiency Index. Zimbabwe followed closely, ranking second in Africa and also placing 13th worldwide, while Kenya and Zambia ranked 19th and 27th globally, making them third and fourth in Africa, respectively. Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda rounded out the top seven on the continent. The index assessed adult English proficiency across 123 countries, drawing on data from more than 2.2 million participants. English remains widely used in these countries, playing a central role in government, education, and the media.

Communication is a big challenge in Zimbabwe… Govt officials struggle to articulate simple issues….
Here are two SMSs from banks.
Both are MISLEADING. The tax is on payments for INTERNATIONAL DIGITAL SERVICES like Netflix, Starlink etc. It doesn’t apply when paying for clothes, fertiliser or any other good.
And @MthuliNcube01 clearly said “in lieu of VAT”…. Which means INSTEAD of VAT.
In other words, VAT won’t be charged on these services, the 15% will be WITHHELD by banks during payment.
The whole issue is complicated by Financially illiterate “analysts” who comment on issues they don’t understand.
And looking at these two SMSs, it’s not clear which one will be used.
It seems Ecobank took the VAT % because of the words “in lieu of VAT”….

As a man, if you're attracted to a FAT woman for any reason, something must be wrong with you.

They're always angry because they're getting little attention while petite young women get all the attention.
