Zuma left behind deep mistrust between the State and the private sector. Ramaphosa has had to work overtime to rebuild that trust. He is slowly reviving SOEs that were wrecked under Zuma. Eskom is finally finding its feet. Transnet is gradually stabilising. Denel and the SABC are also trying to regroup. People will only realise how good Ramaphosa was after he has left the scene. To Zuma’s credit, beyond the looting of public funds, he did build two universities and helped reverse the disastrous HIV/AIDS approach of Thabo Mbeki’s era.
