OW vs RL skill ceiling Just so you guys know, yes, I'm a freestyler, but I also grinded comp ever since I started playing, back in 2017. I've been in Grand Champion for the past 6-7 years, GC3 for the past 3 years, touched SSL ONCE, despite knowing and mastering EVERY mechanic in the game through freestyling, I still couldn't even get the season rewards (you need to win 10 games in that rank). Rocket League pros are not SSLs, SSL starts at around 1850, pros are 2500 mmr... I get that some of you are like "you can't even use that in a real match", but you guys are WRONG. Psychos are extremely common in SSL gameplay and can give you the edge to turn the tables in a match unexpectedly. Of course, this map is the impossible goal one, but with the amount of tries that it took and the consistency it took (psychos look easy, but they are very difficult), my psychos got insanely better, and I use them in ranked constantly. OW is just a FPS with powers and teamwork, except for the powers part, FPS and teamwork are pretty straightforward, and you can get these skills playing any other FPS game (there are infinite). Rocket League is unique, the controls were never seen before, the mechanics, rotation, getting boost, flying, flip resetting, flicking etc... Every part of the game requires that you put an immense amount of effort to improve them ONE by ONE, with no prior experience. The freestylers like myself were and are constantly pushing the game's boundaries, one type of new crazy reset (shay, maktuf, muirie) gets created, and it opens doors to completely new shots and ways to catch ur opponents off guard... Till this day, we still see new mechanics being discovered, and once they do, it changes the meta forever. If you grind them early, you get the extra edge you need to rank up in competitive play.
