Sent mail for the last 12 months to the day: 77k... No wonder I feel I spent my entire day writing emails!

Another year on, and the inbox archive for 23-24 is just over 14k, not much change from last year but almost back to the fully-online Covid year. These are emails received that didn't warrant immediate deletion, so each one requires some reading or action (very few filed).

Every 1 Sept I archive my work email inbox, which gives me a running total for that year's email. Just short of 14,000 emails for last year, up significantly since I started doing this in 16-17 (9k). That's over 38 emails every single day, 53 per working day

@StuartWilksHeeg not to mention the fact that in some institutions/for some courses, ahem, the personal statement is read (if at all) only by central admissions and not by a subject specialist admissions tutor...

@MichaelRosenYes she also used to talk about (what sounded like) Annika's midden (for a mess) which we thought she'd made up, but Annacker's midden is in the Scottish National Dictionary now it seems, so it wasn't just her

@MichaelRosenYes "Come here with your eyes", my gran used to say when she wanted one of us younger folk (a.k.a. weans) to read a label for her if she was wearing her distance glasses rather than her reading glasses... I still say it to my mum in fun, though we both now need reading glasses too
