@GreenpeaceUK I admit; I've mowed, but still doing lots for biodiversity; I've widened the flower beds, added loads more flowering plants this year & have seen an instant increase in bees & insects. Garden is a hive of activity; which includes birds, squirrels and toads.

@B_Strawbridge Local Councils need to step up as well; we have a canal at the back of us, trees full of nesting birds; but approx 3 weeks ago, a 'tree surgeon' knocked on our door, asking if we wanted all the sycamore trees cut down on the canal side of the fence...I couldn't believe it!

Update: I understand the Forestry Commission visited the site today. Could that be why lots of numbers have been painted on the exposed wood of the felled trees? Measurements perhaps?
Whatever the outcome, it's encouraging to know someone takes incidents like this seriously.

In the last 48 hours, a local landowner has cut down ALL the trees along the edge of his fields adjoining the road, sparing none, not even mature Oaks. He's done this bang in the middle of the bird nesting season.
