Pussycat, pussycat, where have you been? I really have been to London to see the Queen! Can you even believe it, I also met THE KING! The actual King, and he was so lovely and very (very) funny. Not only that, I met Lee Child, Richard Osman, the incredibly lovely Lucy Foley, JoJo Moyes, and Celia Imrie. I (finally) met Felicity Blunt and her wonderful husband Stanley Tucci. Plus Jeffrey Archer. Jeffrey Archer insisted Stanley Tucci was, in actual fact, Pep Guardiola (despite being told several times) and asked him why Man City’s form was not up to scratch this season (I am not even kidding you). Plus I met the amazing Elif Shafak, who is one of my literary heroes. All that, and I got to spend an evening with my very wonderful friend Sarah Winman. Now I’m on the train home and wondering if I just experienced a psychotic break 😂 and I can’t show you any photos because they were not allowed, so you’re just going to have to take my word for it. A huge thank you to The Queen’s Reading Room for inviting me to Clarence House to celebrate all the incredible work they do in bringing reading to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity. It was such an honour to be part of the evening. Another big thank you to Sue Armstrong, Susanna Peden and Ann Bissell for treating me to a lovely tea at The Wolseley beforehand … which I could take pictures of, so please enjoy my cheesecake The End 😂

So scans are in - they are really good - mega relieved - you never know with stage 4 breast cancer 🤷‍♀️ Nearly 6 years since an incurable diagnosis 5 (almost) since my first clear scan - feels like a dream milestone #hope (thanks to @MinKelleher @NoopySharma - dream team) ⭐️⭐️

@SkyJacquie I thankfully started chemo, etc. at stage 3C, and so far so good after miraculous NHS treatments, though I never take a day for granted. But those scan days, Jacquie, and the waiting for results... you just can't describe it to someone who's not been through it. Sending love 💕

Was supposed to be in my PET Scan today but the scanner broke down so worked instead - psyched myself up all week for the scan - hard to explain why you have to but you do - what a waste of ‘psyche’- (did spend afternoon getting a mammogram & ultrasound - all normal) 🙏 #stage4

2025 has been a disappointing year for me where books are concerned. I wrote A LOT but I didn't have a book release. This industry is very strange, with enormous lead times, lots of disappointment, and still, we keep going. Hopefully 2026 will be my year!

Another night with little sleep. Been like this since I left for my sister's on the 15th. Thought it would be better once I got home. Tired all day, falling asleep at 8pm, go to bed and awake at 1am. Tired but stupid brain won't switch off. #insomnia
