Demond Wilson (Lamont from Sanford and Son) passed away from complications of cancer at his home yesterday. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Minister. Author. Father to 6 kids. Husband since 1974 to Cicely Johnston. RIP! 😥😥

Heartbroken doesn’t even begin to cover it. Catherine O’Hara was one of a kind. A rare light in this world and her passing hits with a weight I can’t fully put into words. She wasn’t just a legendary artist, actor and comedian. She was an ambassador for Canada in the truest sense: brilliant, fearless, deeply original, and so full of humanity. She made the world laugh, but she also made people feel seen. As an artist, she inspired me more than she’ll ever know. She set the bar for what it means to represent your country with excellence and grace and all without ever losing warmth or humility. My heart is broken for her family, her loved ones, and everyone who adored her, both here in Canada and around the world. If you’re grieving this loss, you’re not alone. We’re all holding a piece of this sadness together. Rest easy, Catherine. Thank you for everything. 🇨🇦❤️

I just don’t get why Democrats aren’t saying this out loud. At some point you start wondering if there is a little too much quiet collusion happening in D.C., not in a conspiratorial way but in the sense that everyone protects the system that benefits them. Americans need to break the habit of automatic incumbency votes. If the people in office aren’t delivering, stop rewarding them. Hold every incumbent, from either party, to the standard of proving they are aligned with your expectations, not assuming they deserve another term by default. Govtrack.us is a good place to start.

Why is it everyone forgets this part? Republicans spent 2016 to 2020 guttig the ACA the same way a vandal “doesn’t destroy a car” but quietly drains the oil, slashes the tires, and loosens every bolt until the whole thing collapses on the highway. 1. You zeroed out the mandate so the law technically existed but couldn’t function. 2. you cut outreach by 90 percent so fewer people even knew how to sign up. 3. you flooded the market with junk plans tat don’t cover anything. 4. You sabotaged cost-sharing payments so insurers had to jack up premiums or bail out. 5. You approved waivers that let states chip away at protections piece by piece. 6. You backed lawsuits trying to wipe out the entire law. 7. You loosened employer mandate enforcement because why follow rules if you don’t believe in them. 8. You pushed Medicaid work requirements that kicked people off coverage. 9. You kept threatening repeal just to destabilize the whole system. They then turned around and pretended the ACA “failed on its own”. It didn’t fail. They kneecapped it, blamed the victim, and ran victory laps while people lost coverage.
