Started work on my off grid camping trailer to remove the lead acid battery and add LifePo4 and charger and will add solar when i can figure out a suitable panel. Tow hitch fitted yesterday and it looks pretty good to me. Need to get the car electronics updated to enable the trailer electrics which is proving a little difficult to find somewhere that can do it. Also needs an antenna mount or two.

Yesterday I did my Great Tommy Sleepout, it included a 7 hour round trip to pick up the camping trailer I bought. Sarah wanted to join the camp out this year so we went to Caffyns Farm near Lynmouth, where they have a Cafe and Bar. So after a cold night camping we treated ourselves to a full English breakfast. We brought home some cider made on the farm, for medicinal purposes of course. Many thanks for everyone that sponsored me this year. New MacBook fits nicely in a Peli iM2100 case along with my Yeasu FTX-1 Field.

VarAC running on my MacBook Neo in crossover. CAT and audio set up and working. I only have 2m and 70cm antenna at home so unlikely to make any contacts but it’s ready to take outside at the weekend. This will be great little laptop for potable Amateur Radio operators I think.

@SuperFreqz It’s great, better than I expected. I’ll take it out portable with the radio at the weekend.

The rain stopped! Quick get the FTX-1 and MPAS 2 with faraday cloth thingies set up and see if it works! SSB on 40 acceptable. JS8Call stations hearing me but no one is replying.

Colin sent me my Great Tommy Sleep out beanie, so I have no choice now, need to get ready to do the sleep out in March!

I have signed up to do the Great Tommy Sleepout again this march. Hoping to help homeless veterans here in the UK. I was not going to do it this year for various reasons but I think I need to help fellow veterans in some way, however small, I am a veteran and although I was never in front line combat and served in the Cold War I have the greatest of respect for those that did fight for our freedom. Putting together a Raspberry Pi 5 setup for portable and mobile operation with my FTX-1 this year. The problem with finishing putting it together is that now I need to find some enthusiasm to go out and actually use it.

Back in the garden FTX-1 and MPAS 2.0 this time with the wire set up sloping across the garden working quite well. A bit cold in the wind but the sun is shining :-)

Out on the garden yesterday, JS8Call and SSB on 20 and 40m. JS8 as quiet as usual but still plenty of stations hearing me, only one QSO to a station in Athens. One QSO SSB to Austria on 20m. It’s a bit too cold for me to spend much more than the 3 hours I spent out there! FTX-1 Optima with Cha MPAS 2.0
