Imagine someone equally publicly vocal making some dubious hot take on a topic in the natural sciences. That would be shameful. But unfortunately, many people think philosophy is talking about empty topics without even spending a couple of hours thinking about a single argument.

He didn’t say he would ban Catholicism (he wouldn’t, he views it as part of the Church).
So no, I don’t see it as more “illiberal” to ban Eucharistic processions because you disagree with Catholic doctrine in transubstantiation, than to ban adoption agencies because you disagree with doctrine of marriage.
So your position is we already live in an illiberal regime?

Shutting down Catholic adoption agencies is illiberal. Shutting down Catholic adoption agencies by banning Catholicism is more illiberal than just shutting down the agencies by themselves. Does MBD agree?

I met Brian Doherty in the summer of 1991 and we've been friends ever since. Last saw him in Palm Springs, December, 2024.
A real polymath - historian, journalist, musician, comic book expert. Great sense of humor, too. I probably never would have written my graphic novels but for his tutelage in the 2000s.
Such a privilege to have known my friend.
