Today’s “Odd Tank” is the 🇺🇸 American ‘M4A1E9’
Built during WW2, Shermans would trial and use various types of suspension systems and tracks.
The E9 would still use the VVSS type bogey suspension found on most shermans, but they would be spaced further from the hull allowing for the installation of track extensions both on the outside and the inside of the tracks. This would help spread out the ground pressure of the tank.
In picture 2 you can see the E9 without the track extensions and spot a noticable gap between the tracks and hull.
