It was a Champions League match. Chelsea vs Manchester United. My entire family, cousins and all, were supporting Chelsea. I just wanted to be different, so I picked Manchester United. No deep reason. Just that.
They won. And I remember sitting there, the only happy person in the room, watching everyone's faces fall. Something about that felt so good; I never let it go.
Except somewhere along the way, it stopped being a joke. I kept watching, and without realising it, the club just became mine. Now, when they lose, it genuinely hurts. It actually stings. Wallahi. The kind of feeling you don't expect to have over a football match until you're already in too deep to explain it to anyone.
What started as me being stubborn turned into something I'd never trade. Funny how that works.
