The world's oldest tortoise Jonathan is still alive despite rumours that he had died. A hoaxer claiming to be Jonathan's vet posted on X that he had died and was asking for crypto donations. The post had almost two million views with many people sharing their condolences. The giant Seychelles tortoise moved to St Helena in 1882 and it's believed he is 193-years-old. Jonathan is the oldest living land animal according to the Guinness World Records.

Dick Advocaat, 78 years old is one of the most experienced coaches in the history of European football, a man who has managed PSV, Rangers, the Dutch national team, Zenit, Sunderland, and more clubs than most coaches could name in a single breath, guided the smallest nation by population ever to qualify for a World Cup all the way to the 2026 finals, drawing Germany, Ecuador and Ivory Coast in the process. Then he walked away from the greatest achievement of his entire coaching career because his daughter is seriously ill and she needed him at home. He said "I have always said that family comes before football. This is therefore a natural decision." A natural decision. That is how he described leaving the biggest stage he had ever stood on. There is something about that sentence that puts everything else in football into proper perspective, because we spend so much time in this industry talking about legacy, ambition, trophies, and historic achievements, and here is a 78 year old man who had all of that within touching distance this summer and chose his daughter without hesitation and called it natural. Curacao have appointed fellow Dutchman Fred Rutten to take them to the tournament, and they will go to that World Cup carrying everything Advocaat built for them, but the real story of this qualification will always be the manager who got them there and then chose something more important than football.
