Notice how The Sopranos is still a cultural icon almost 20 years later, people endlessly quote lines from it, whereas The Wire has been completely forgotten

@DavidJay20 @FloppingAces The Save Act is existential to both sides. With it, Dems don't win again in their current form. Without it Reps may never win again, in any form. Seems to not be passable in 2026 leading to a bloody midterm with R losses in odd places. I hope for better.

Democrats just fucked themselves so hard into a Supreme Court showdown over mail ballots that it should be studied as a masterclass in suicidal stupidity. These absolute clowns couldn’t stop suing. Twenty-three blue-state assholes plus D.C. sprinted to that Obama-appointed hack Indira Talwani in Massachusetts and got Trump’s ballot-tracking order frozen. She actually wrote that the Constitution forbids the president from making mailed ballots trackable because ... get this ... it might “confuse” or “disenfranchise” the same people who already lose their own mail. The First Circuit rubber-stamped that garbage like the partisan bootlickers they are. But no, that wasn’t enough. The same fucking NGOs and blue attorneys then filed a second lawsuit in D.C. for extra insurance. That’s when the nuclear own-goal detonated. The D.C. court and the D.C. Circuit turned around and said the complete opposite: the challenge was premature, the rules weren’t final, and the real harm was to the administration. Instant circuit split. SCOTUS yanked the case and ordered briefs by Monday. While the entire media circus and the professional outrage machine stayed glued to the SAVE Act ... the high-drama, sixty-vote, birth-certificate circus that still can’t get past the Senate filibuster ... the real, durable, lower-friction win slipped right through the side door. Barcodes. Real-time tracking. Official Election Mail logos that work exactly like the Amazon package confirmation every American already uses without crying racism. Federal gating via citizenship lists. Chain-of-custody data that turns “mysteriously disappeared” red-county ballots into prosecutable evidence instead of shrugged-off “glitches.” No new voter burdens. No endless provisional-ballot sob stories for the networks. No 60-vote Senate math. Just existing postal authority turning the mailstream into an auditable checkpoint that sticks once it’s live. Progressives sued so fucking hard in two friendly courts that they accidentally delivered the higher-value fight straight to the only court that can end their shit. Ruthless. Self-inflicted. And the most delicious part is they still don’t even realize how badly they just bent themselves over. (article below)

This is a perfect example of how so much of the discussion on here is driven by conspiracy theorists and liars. Thomas Massie is an obvious and prominent example of both. Almost 1 million views on his post... The bill he voted against, HR 8595, was the standard annual appropriations bill for State Department funding in 2027. Massie was the only Republican to vote against it because he's an unreliable and mostly worthless member of Congress who always finds an excuse to vote with Democrats on key bills. More importantly, the bill has 0 language related to Spain, Ceuta, or Morocco. These things are not mentioned at all in the appropriations bill. Search it yourself. So what's the screenshot he posted? It's a non-binding committee report simply stating U.S. policy. It absolutely does not "green light" the transfer of Spanish territory to Morocco. It obviously has nothing to do with the recent migrant rush into Ceuta. Massie obviously knows this. So why lie about this? Because he rightly assumes no one will check the bill, and that's what gets Massie clicks and feeds into the conspiratorial view of the world he's trying to sell.
Thomas Massie@RepThomasMassie

Don’t fall for the fake Fox/GOP outrage. Two weeks ago the House passed a bill that greenlighted the transfer of Spanish territory to Morocco. Every Republican except me voted for it, but now THEY are acting shocked at the invasion. congress.gov/119/bills/hr85… congress.gov/119/bills/hr94…

@AGHamilton29 It's pretty clear that Mario Díaz-Balart is responsible for inserting that language. While Massie misrepresented what happened, it does appear the administration and some Republicans close to it are cozying up to Morocco. x.com/LauraPowellEsq…
Laura Powell@LauraPowellEsq

There are signs that the United States is drawing closer to Morocco as relations between the Trump administration and Spain’s socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez have deteriorated. Today, President Trump issued a statement reaffirming the United States’ unequivocal support for Morocco’s claim to Western Sahara, a territory whose status remains internationally disputed. Although Trump and the State Department have criticized the recent invasion of Ceuta, the timing of this message appears to send a broader signal about U.S. priorities in the region. Mario Díaz-Balart, a senior House Republican and close ally of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has used language that reflects Morocco’s territorial claims regarding Spain’s North African enclaves. In an interview earlier this year, he stated that Ceuta and Melilla “are not situated on Spanish territory but rather on Moroccan soil.” A House Appropriations Committee report associated with Díaz-Balart used similar terminology. Like Rubio, Díaz-Balart is a prominent Cuba hawk and has criticized Sánchez for appearing to prioritize relations with the “dictators of Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela” over those with the United States. I do not claim to fully understand all of the geopolitical calculations at play. Nevertheless, these developments are concerning. Morocco presents a significant challenge for European security, and despite the shortcomings of some current European leaders, the weakening of Western powers would have catastrophic consequences for the world. In his widely praised speech at the Munich Security Conference in February, Rubio spoke of the need to “revitalize an old friendship and renew the greatest civilization in human history.” It is difficult to see how strengthening Morocco’s position at Spain’s expense advances that objective.

Wrong. Try understanding what Committee Reports are. They outline the general sentiment of the bills. This committee report and bill both acknowledge WAY more than Moroccos claim over Spanish land, it establishes that THE US BACKS MOROCCO OVER SPAIN in this claim. Lying shill.

@AGHamilton29 Your point would be much stronger without the second sentence in your 3rd paragraph. I understand having personal animus toward someone, but when I read that unrelated jab at Massie, I wonder if the rest of what you're saying is untruthful or exaggerated. Love your account!

@NotEvolvedDad @SenThomTillis Unlikely, the Republicans would have to maintain control of the senate through the midterms which doesnt seem like its going to happen. By the time they leave office they won't have the votes to confirm him anyways.

Despite comments as late as yesterday that the fund is dead, President Trump clearly intends to resurrect the payout pot for punks either by inappropriately establishing another bogus fund or pushing Congress to vote for a bill that the majority of Republicans in the Senate would be against. It’s unfortunate that Todd Blanche, who I consider qualified for the job, will not be confirmed because of this reversal. Hopefully, we can resolve this by Tuesday.
Julie Tsirkin@news_jul

President Trump’s insistence that his anti-weaponization fund is not only not going away, but now he wants LEGISLATION to codify it, is exactly why Senators Cornyn and Tillis wouldn’t take Todd Blanche’s word for it:

Scott Galloway jumped on the podcast circuit to talk about income inequality sprinkled with the typical “we’re not treating boys well”, then donated to Kamala. He’s another shitlib pinko that thinks his brand of communism will work. Commies are like libertarians; both groups spiral into ever smaller versions of “It would work if I was in charge.”

@BasilianThought State and federal governments have no business paying for the drugs that fuel degenerate lifestyles. If they want to choose to be promiscuous and have many partners, they need to pay for their own drugs themselves. It’s not the public’s responsibility.
