The bill requires proof of U.S. citizenship to register for federal elections and photo ID to vote. Basic integrity. Non-citizens are already banned from federal voting, but without real verification ineligible people end up on the rolls. State audits and DOJ actions show it happens. The SAVE tool flagged thousands of cases. Pretending the problem does not exist is denial. Their big scare number about millions lacking documents is advocacy math. Most Americans have or can get birth certificates. Passports cover about half the country. States with strict ID rules show turnout holds steady or rises over time. No evidence of mass suppression. Dems complain about a federal role. They pushed federal rules for easier registration and mail-in before. Now that it means verifying citizenship, states rights suddenly matter¿ Public support is strong. Recent polls show around 70% overall backing proof of citizenship requirements, with Republicans near 90%, independents around 65-70%, and significant Democratic support too. People understand only citizens should vote. Murkowski and others hide behind rural access excuses while mail-in expansion failed to deliver sustained turnout gains. 2022 proved it. This is not about suppressing votes. It is about protecting them from dilution. Dems prefer loopholes over security.
