Yesterday in my home state of Enugu, my people Ndi Igbo, through the prestigious Southeast Legends and Achievers Award @selaaward, gave me the YOUNG ACHIEVER OF THE YEAR 2025 award. : If you’ve followed me here, you must have known that I have dedicated the last 11 years campaigning for the economic development of Ala Igbo as the only true way to Igbo prosperity and Southeast development. As a people, Ndi Igbo have contributed enormously to Nigerian and African development, but I am of the opinion that the time has come for us to focus our attention, resources, and everything we have on the development of our homeland the Southeast of Nigeria, Ala Igbo. According to Statisense and other data verification platforms, the Southeast is the most developed region in terms of HDI in Nigeria, and also the Southeast is the region with the most economic purchasing power in Nigeria. We are all these and more, but I feel we haven’t done enough for our fatherland (Ala Igbo). This is why, as an individual, I made a solemn promise to site all my businesses in the Southeast. My vision is to build locally here and export to the world from here in Ala Igbo, and through the MAIGA (MAKE ALA IGBO GREAT AGAIN) movement and campaign, I have been at the forefront of those advocating for this. This award didn’t come to me as a shock but rather a pat on the back to do more. I want to go beyond building OHANAEZE FARMS @ohanaezefarms, the largest fenced livestock farm (ranch), ONYE IJE MOTORS, the most affordable and comfortable means of transportation, @voiceoftheeast__ VOICE OF THE EAST, the biggest Igbo digital media platform in the world by reach. I want to do more. I see a future where Ndi Igbo all agree to dedicate 10–20 years to build and develop our region and make it the fastest-growing region in the world again like the days of my icon & mentor Dr. M.I. Okpara, the Premier of the Old Eastern Region. Together, I believe we can MAKE ALA IGBO GREAT AGAIN. Thanks to the President of @selaaward, my brother @eugene_ifeanyi, for putting this together, and I promise to keep supporting this award as long as I exist. OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON MMESOMA –THE JAMB GIRL By Chief Gaius Chibueze, Founder – Voice of the East This public statement has become necessary as many people have been asking about the whereabouts of Mmesoma, especially following recent reports of JAMB result glitches affecting several students from the Southeast. In 2023, Mmesoma, a young girl living in Anambra State, was accused of tampering with her JAMB result a situation that drew widespread public attention. Like many Nigerians, I found it difficult to believe that such a young girl could be capable of what JAMB alleged. I publicly called for a thorough investigation to ascertain the truth. Due to the tribal rhetoric and public ridicule that followed the incident and in light of JAMB’s decision to ban her from applying to any Nigerian university for three years I made a commitment to sponsor her education abroad. True to my word, I immediately took action. I sent my manager at Voice of the East, Mr. Lottana, to Anambra State to locate Mmesoma and her family. The same day he met them, I bought her a mobile phone, as she didn’t have one at the time. I assured her parents I would adopt her and take full responsibility for her education and welfare. From that point forward: •I placed her on a monthly allowance of ₦30,000, which she received on the 1st of every month for over 8 months. •I sponsored her international passport and covered all logistics. •I contacted KB Travels, a verified agency, and applied to over 10 U.S. universities on her behalf. •Eventually, she got admission to a university in Texas. •I paid for her U.S. visa application through the Express Option, including accommodation in Lagos and a visa interview coach. •Unfortunately, she was denied the U.S. visa. •I immediately paid for a Canadian school application and covered the cost of IELTS. Despite this, Canadian schools did not offer her admission. •I hired a second agent to pursue European university applications, which sadly led to repeated rejections. In the meantime, her family began calling me frequently for financial support. Out of compassion: •I gave her father over ₦1 million to support his struggling music business. •I also helped her mother through financial difficulties on multiple occasions. •When the family decided to relocate from Nnewi to their home state of Enugu, I paid for them to find and secure a new home in Topland, Enugu, covering a year’s rent and agency fees totaling over ₦2 million. Still committed to her progress, I: •Bought her a laptop and paid someone to teach her coding. •Encouraged her to learn options trading, gave her startup capital, and bought her another phone. •She later made over $3,000 in profit from trading, withdrew part of it, and opened a shop for her mother. •I also paid for another shop for her father in Enugu. In December 2024, during my first visit to Enugu in nine years, I personally visited their home, spent time with them, and brought gifts. Her parents were deeply appreciative of the visit and the continued support. Everything I have done and continue to do is in good faith, with no expectations other than to help a young girl who had been thrown into a national controversy and to protect her future. As of our last communication, Mmesoma is doing well and living with her family in Topland, Enugu State. I am sharing this update publicly with supporting evidence because, as a public figure, people deserve clarity.
