This is a decades old question, going back to I. J. Good sixty years ago. It's a dumb question for a lot of reasons.
For one thing, AI isn't "humanity's" creation. It is created by a tiny fraction of people and imposed on the rest of us.

First and foremost, his family deserves to know what happened.
And if it's prosaic, that needs to be said.
