Since the tragic news broke out of Idado yesterday about firefighters being ambushed and killed, numerous people have tagged me in social media posts, written me emails, and sent me messages about how eerily similar these real-life events are to my latest thriller, GONE DARK. When I wrote my book, I never imagined that fiction would play out so closely to actual events. More than anything, I want to express my heartbreak for those impacted by the evil actions of the shooter. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families. Matthew Redd is a fictional character... Our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS, Military members, and others are the REAL heroes. May God protect those who risk everything to protect us.
